Bokelj Baošić - About us
Swimming and water polo club Bokelj Baosic is founded in June 1971. It is a most massive sport organization in Baosic whose activities span trough all ages and categories. After tough preparation in year 1972 the Club enters Montenegrin water polo league where it scores remarkable results, even plays in SFRJ Cup semi finals. As the Montenegrian state champion of year 1980, Bokelj makes it to second federal water polo league and scored it highest success as second league champion and make it to 1st b league of then federal Yugoslavia. That year in this league Bokelj scored very good 5th place out of 10. But from year 1984 scores go down, from 1984 to 1986 Bokelj competes in cross state league and from 1986 again in republic league. It is of value to mention that pioneers and cadets of our club scored very good results in finale republic water polo play offs and among those players there was some future republic and federal national team players.
All those results our Club scores on other clubs pools and it had to play on Bijela as home pool. After construction of sport and recreation center with open swimming pool, our club had better conditions to expand and make better results again. By making of new federation SR Yugoslavia, Bokelj enters newly formed first amateur league. In the first championship in year 1992, as very young team of 19 year old players, it makes a sport record and takes amateur league title home. This title has a special savor as it is taken with all wins and not even one lost or even match. Parallel with its competition in amateur league, Bokelj competes in absolute championship of Republic of Montenegro where they takes high 3rd place after Jadran and Kotor. Those sport successes motivate the management of the club so the club expands by registration of first female water polo club in Montenegro on 1 July 1992. Even on the short period of time, twenty of active girls played the first official female water polo match against Bijela in Montenegro. Our female team takes part in first female water polo championship in SR Yugoslavia that took place in Becaj from 11th to 13th September 1992. In this play off our team scored 4th place. Some of our players make it to the female federal national team. After a series of top level results, on the club address comes many tributes and appreciations from diverse sport sections and collectives and among them the highest tribute of town Herceg Novi, the October price.
From year 1993 until year 1996 comes to a fall of competition results. Bokelj competes in JAL group Montenegro and by its average plays it places on the lower end of table. Products of hard work, that focused on younger categories in that period comes to good results as in 1997 young team takes 3rd place in SR Yugoslavia Cup to 18 years, and a 2nd place in final cup of JAL in Baosic. In the same year our first team is back on pedestal and is crown champions of Montenegro. The rising trend continues and the tempo of play is increasing. What follows is success of young categories up to age 12 that takes the title of junior champions of Montenegro in Djenovic in year 1998. Their success is followed by first team that in same year without losing one point takes the Montenegro champion title home. Final table was: Bokelj 16, Primorje 9, Kumbor 6, Rivijera 5, Tivat 2 points.
A very successful period encounters for our young categories from age 10 to 13 that took 1st place in open championship of SRY, and reminds that their time is still to come. First team took the 2nd place that year in Montenegro championship falling just one point after 1st placed Kumbor. After some circumstances Bokelj enters a crisis and don’t even compete in any league and don’t function at all in a period from year 2000-2001. By entering a 2002 season and lead on by new young forces, comes to a revival of Bokelj Club although a period of three years of not operating left many implications. The work of young selections is based on swimming and water polo school and the first team competes in Montenegro league and takes 3rd place. Although in lack of finances, Bokelj continues with work and takes Montenegro champion title again in 2003. Out first team also wins memorial tournaments “Branko Mustur”-Djenovici, and “Baosic 2003”. Bad conditions for work and bad infrastructure of the pool didn’t interfere work of our club, whose first team takes 2nd place in 2004 Montenegro championship just one point behind the 1st placed club Val from Prcanj. Next year a tournament for young categories takes place in Baosic and Bokelj takes 2nd place. Beside the home team, tournament contenders were Rivijera-Djenovic, Spartak-Subotica and Jadran-Herceg Novi. Our first team with many renewals takes 4th place in Montenegro league that year, but in the next year of 2006 it took 3rd place after Galeb and Risan. After independence of Montenegro and by new regulations in sport law, by resolution of Ministry of Culture, sport and media, no. 06-1817/2 from 02.07.2007. Bokelj is signed in the registry of sport organizations under the name of “Vaterpolo plivacki klub Bokelj Baosic” (Water polo Swimming club Bokelj Baosic). New management ware chosen and the club registered with a wish that a milieu that gave Petar Trbojevic, Veselin Krivokapic, brothers Blagoje and Aleksandar Ivovic and more, continue to assert water polo and swimming sport in Baosic and through Riviera. In the championship season of 2007 Bokelj had very good results.
Majority of players that sprang in this team and the rest of the team showed the best water polo in this season. The first big thing of this season was winning of “13th July water polo tournament” that was organized for 13th July, a Montenegro independence day by VPK Bokelj Baosic. The tournament was played for three days and beside the home team following teams took a part in the tournament: Risan, Galeb and Rivijera. The high point of 2007 season was taking of title of champions of 2nd Montenegro league. A large amount of attractive and interesting games on the pool in Baosic watched over 400 spectators per game that shows a large step forward in organization of the club and popularity. For achieved scores in 2007 season our club gets a recondition as the most successful sport collective in town Herceg Novi by sport journalists.
The season of year 2008 lead to a new line of successes. The competition success continued with winning the 13th July tournament and of becoming 2nd Montenegrian league champion again. This title have its own weight as it is won by maximum points awarded. On 10 played games Bokelj scored 10 wins and a maximum of 30 points and that shows the quality of our team that is showed in season of 2008. The players that made this valuable and big success with coach Bozidar Ivanovic are: Ivović Blagoje, Janković Goran, Bilić Darko, Simov Stojan, Mašić Djordje, Kljajević Filip, Andrić Filip, Mitrović Branko, Makaragić Miroslav, Mišić Saša.
Appearances of the club in competition in 2009 were focused on the rejuvenation of the team, and creating space for the promotion and development of young players. Keeping in mind that the competition in 2nd Montenegrin league clubs were very strong, won III place team Boka has made more than a good success. In addition to recapture the now traditional tournament July 13 performance of the club is beyond the expected. In this season despite the club's financial crisis in his direction at the pool, had a significant infrastructure investment (Gallery 2009), now in greater part of conditions for the smooth running of the performances in matches during the competitive season.
Competitive season of 2010, made the step up in competitive part.
